Burnaby is a city in British Columbia, Canada, located in the Lower Mainland region of the province. It is a member municipality of Metro Vancouver, the regional district government that also includes the city of Vancouver and other nearby municipalities. Burnaby is the third-largest city in British Columbia by population, after Vancouver and Surrey, and has a population of about 230,000.

Burnaby was incorporated in 1892, and it achieved city status in 1992. It is named after Robert Burnaby, a British politician who was the private secretary to the governor of the Colony of British Columbia from 1858 to 1863.
